Suspended electromagnetic iron separator

Suspended electromagnetic separators are designed to be suspended over moving materials to remove iron impurities from powdered, granular, or lumpy non-magnetic materials. They are widely used in industries such as quartz processing, chemicals, mining, glass, and building materials.

The cleaning method for magnetic impurities is divided into manual cleaning type and automatic cleaning type.

Working principle of electromagnetic separators:

When the electromagnetic coil is energized, it generates a magnetic field. Together with the carbon steel housing and internal iron core, it forms a magnetic circuit, releasing a high-gradient magnetic field at the bottom of the housing.

When materials pass beneath the equipment, magnetic substances are captured by the magnetic field and adsorbed onto the separator's bottom plate. For manual cleaning, the separator is moved outside the work area, and after cutting off the power to deactivate the magnetic field, the magnetic impurities automatically fall off.

Manual cleaning separators:

Advantages: Simple structure, reliable operation, easy maintenance.

Disadvantages: Inconvenient cleaning, labor-intensive, requires production line stoppage during cleaning.

Automatic cleaning separators:

These are based on the manual type but add components such as a reducer, an iron-discharge belt, rollers, and a main frame. During operation, ferromagnetic materials continuously adsorbed by the separator are automatically thrown off via the rotating discharge belt, achieving automatic iron removal.

Advantages: Efficient iron removal and cleaning, no manual intervention required.

Disadvantages: More complex structure than the manual type, requires maintenance, and the belt needs periodic replacement.
